A very powerful magnet can make a lightweight access panel awkward to remove, pull a thin display surface out of alignment, or create an unnecessarily difficult opening action on a cabinet.
Think first about the fitting’s purpose. A magnetic cabinet catch needs enough holding force to keep a door closed during normal use, but it should still release comfortably by hand.
